In the shadow of narcissism

In the shadow of narcissism

She was too young to love—too young to know what love is. She was too young to understand relationships. Too young to know the difference between love and lust.

As she tried to fill in the missing pieces, she kept coming back to the same conclusion. She doesn’t know what she has done to herself. She doesn’t know why she’s letting herself down. She doesn’t know what she’s sacrificing her life for.

If only he knew how much of a good man he was in her eyes. How much of a great husband he was to her.  How gorgeous and loving of a man he was in her mind.

If only he knew how much she adores him and how much respect and admiration she holds in her heart for him. She wouldn’t be sharing her unfortunate sad story with others. Because there will be no sad story to tell.

His narcissistic ways make her want to run away, as far as she can possibly run. The beauty in him vanishes into the darkness of the narcissistic world. The handsome man she married and love disappear in the wildness of men without hearts.

She herself was wrapped in the thorns of fears for the future. Her heart was aching in desperation for answers.  Her heart was beating for a cure.

She reached deep to her soul to give her the strength she needed. She has sacrificed her soul to have him complete without a black spot.

She has let go of herself, let go of her beliefs, and her dignity to be true to herself, so to have him complete and free of the black grip of narcissism.

But she finds herself tangled in the web of manipulations. She surrendered to the devil of narcissism in the hope it would leave them alone someday.

Little did she know, she was surrendering not only her soul but her whole person to serve the devil sitting on top of them both. Submerging them under his will.

The more she gives in. The more she sacrificed.  The more the wings of his ego grow. The worse his narcissisms get, the deeper her pain.

Blinded by his narcissism. He could not see the pain she is living in. He could not see the suffering she has to endure to have him. He could not see the love she carries around for him.

She melts away like snow under the heat of his narcissism. Her love was once bright and warm. Now fading and cold.

What’s next? she asked herself. But she doesn’t know. She is a prisoner to her love that has betrayed her. She has been reduced to an object with beauty to adore from the inside but without a soul inside.
